If you’ve ever felt capable but stuck — or successful on the outside and restless inside — you’re exactly who I love working with.
And I know what it's like to lack confidence.
One of the first lessons I learned as a kid was that I was a chicken. I watched my older sister do things that I was too scared to try, and spent my childhood convinced that a person was either born brave or they weren't. And I definitely wasn’t. But in junior high, a teacher asked me to try to beat my sister’s long jump record at school. Yikes! In my world that felt impossible. My sister brave and bold, and I wasn't.
But the teacher saw something in me, and encouraged me to try. And before long, I went from questioning whether I should even attempt the jump, to actually beating my sister's record and setting the longest long jump record at the school. And went on to set three other records for physical fitness. Wow! I could do it.
It was that moment that taught me that bravery isn’t born—it’s built, and when you decide to put aside your fear of failure, and just show up with consistency, eventually bravery shows up.
